Janet Schwartz - About Me

About Me

Janet Schwartz

Welcome

Welcome to my portfolio. I am Janet Schwartz, a photographer whose journey has led me deeper into the realm of abstraction, where the intersection of photography and computer-generated art creates a unique narrative.

With a passion for capturing moments that speak beyond mere representation, my photographic journey began with a steadfast admiration for the timeless works of renowned photographers such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Aaron Siskind, and the contemporary artist Michael Kenna. Their mastery of black-and-white imagery has profoundly influenced my approach to photography, particularly the elegant abstraction embodied in Kenna’s work.

Artistic Focus and Inspirations

My artistic focus has evolved over the years, embracing abstraction as a fundamental aspect of my work. A pivotal moment came during a photography session at the picturesque fishing docks of Newport, Oregon, which sparked the creation of the images showcased in the Nautical Textures section of my gallery. This exploration of texture and form continued to blossom in my Botanical Abstracts series, marking the beginning of my deeper venture into the abstract.

The Journey into Computer-Generated Art

In 2013, I turned my attention to the digital realm, exploring the creation of purely abstract photographic images through computer generation. This interest prompted a lengthy period of software development, resulting in works that fuse synthetic elements with photographic objects. You can explore these creations in the Mathematical Art section of my gallery, where the fusion of technology and artistry reveals new dimensions of expression.
